What is a creature lands (manlands) cycle?

Manlands — also called creature lands — are dual lands that can be activated to become creatures. The "manland" name traces to Mishra’s Factory in Antiquities (1994), the first land that could attack. Modern variants include the Worldwake and Oath of the Gatewatch cycle (Celestial Colonnade, Creeping Tar Pit, Raging Ravine, Lavaclaw Reaches, Stirring Wildwood, plus the 5 enemy-color counterparts), and the newer "Restless" cycle from Wilds of Eldraine (Restless Anchorage, Restless Reef, etc.). Each ETBs tapped, taps for mana of its two colors, and activates for a typically-modest creature with a triggered ability (vigilance, deathtouch, double-strike). They give control and midrange decks an additional pressure source that survives most board wipes — a real edge in attrition matchups. Wizards has reprinted manlands sparingly because they’re powerful, so the originals (Celestial Colonnade especially) hold premium prices.

Players also call them creature lands. All names refer to the same 10 cards.

The cycle debuted in WWK.

No — they cost mana to activate (often 3+ to make a creature, plus tap costs), so they’re a mana sink, not a ramp piece.
